Elder Omar Lopez
Omar Lopez carries a powerful testimony of God’s redemption, grace, and transforming power. Raised in Southern California, Omar faced significant challenges early in life and, by the age of 15, found himself living on the streets, surrounded by gang life and multiple near-death experiences. In 1989, he experienced the heartbreaking loss of his mother in a car accident, an event that deeply marked his life.
But God had a greater story in mind.
Through the faithful witness of other believers, including his brother, Omar encountered Jesus in a life-changing way in 1991. In that moment, everything shifted. He was radically transformed and filled with the Holy Spirit, igniting a lifelong passion for evangelism and a deep love for God and His Word.
For over 20 years, Omar has faithfully served in ministry in many capacities, including men’s Bible studies, ushering, children’s ministry, and missions. Alongside his family, he has participated in outreach efforts both locally and internationally, serving in Mexico and sharing the gospel in places like Argentina and Israel. Today, he leads the Evangelistic Outreach team at Calvary Chapel New Beginnings, where he continues to boldly share his faith and encourage others in their walk with the Lord.
Omar has been joyfully married to his wife, Claudia, for over 28 years. Together, they have built a family centered on worship and serving Jesus. He is a proud father to his son Elijah, a gifted drummer with a heart for worship, and is blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law, Kalia, who also loves to worship and plays guitar. Since moving to Las Vegas in 2000, their family has made it their home and remains committed to serving the Lord together.
Omar’s life is a testimony that no one is too far gone for God’s grace, and he continues to live with a deep desire to see others experience that same transforming love.
