Deacon Mike Berner
Mike Berner carries a powerful testimony of God’s grace, redemption, and restoring love. Born in Athens, Greece, to missionary parents, Mike was raised in a Christian home and spent much of his early life traveling throughout South America, including Argentina and Chile. His upbringing was shaped by faith, family, and life on the mission field.
At the age of 12, Mike moved to the United States with his family, eventually settling in Las Vegas. As he entered his teenage years, his faith, though present, had not yet been deeply tested. Over time, he began to drift from his foundation in Christ, facing questions and influences that led him down a difficult path. By his mid-teen years, he had walked away from his faith and found himself caught in a lifestyle that led to brokenness and spiritual emptiness.
For many years, Mike pursued what the world had to offer, only to find himself unfulfilled and searching for something more. After facing legal challenges and finding himself in prison, he came to a moment of deep reflection that would change his life. In that place, he encountered the Lord in a real and personal way and made the decision to fully surrender his life to Jesus.
As Mike laid down his past, his struggles, and the weight he had been carrying, God began a true work of transformation in his life. Through time in the Word, prayer, and fellowship, he experienced freedom, renewal, and a restored sense of purpose. What once left him empty was replaced with peace, joy, and a growing relationship with Christ.
Since that time, Mike has seen God faithfully restore and rebuild every area of his life. Today, he serves as a Deacon at Calvary Chapel New Beginnings, where he supports the ministry and encourages others in their walk with the Lord. His life is marked by gratitude for all that God has done and a desire to see others experience that same transforming grace.
Mike is thankful for the many blessings God has given him, including a loving home, meaningful relationships, and a renewed sense of purpose. He is especially grateful for his wife, Corine, who is a gift from the Lord and a partner in both life and faith.
Mike’s story is a reminder that no one is beyond God’s reach and that in Christ there is always redemption, restoration, and new life.
